Hi-Fi+ Magazine - Issue 49

Split Decision

In an overcrowded market you’ve got to have something special to stand out. Four piece outfit The Mustangs operate in the blues/rock field and by all accounts are a particularly fierce live act… not difficult to imagine when you give their latest album a spin. Split Decision clocks in at just over 32 minutes but it’s 12 tracks offer up plenty of evidence as to why they are so highly touted by those in the know.

Blues In Britain Magazine - November 2006

Split Decision

The South Coast based band formed back in 2001 and have been garnering good reviews in the South, including some Festival appearances (Boogaloo, Swanage and Guilfest). The line up is Adam Norsworthy, Derek Kingaby, Ben McKeown, Jon Bartley. This, their third album, contains a dozen originals. The style is blues-rock, blues influenced music with a high-energy input.

Musician Magazine - September 2006

Split Decision

Released on the the UK's largest dedicated blues label, Blues Matters, The Mustangs are a south coast based, four man line up with a formidable live reputation. Frontman Adam Norsworthy handles lead vocals, guitar and keys, alongside the harp of Derek Kingaby, drummer Jon Bartley and bassist Ben McKeown. Commendably and democratically, the group share the paper and pen duties and all four have contributed to the writing of the album's wide-ranging material.

Blues and Rhythm Magazine - August 2006

Split Decision

Lovers of Brit blues-rock are sure to get a kick out of this new release by The Mustangs. Adam Norsworthy is front man on guitar and vocals, backup is supplied by Derek Kingaby on harp, Ben McKeown on bass and drummer Jon Bartley.

On an all-original twelve song set The Mustangs run the gamut of head down, thrash it out blues-rock, and material which falls more into the straight ahead singer/songwriter rock arena. If this kinda thing shakes your particular plum tree then you'll definitely need to check it out. Nicely arranged and recorded.
