THE MUSTANGS
***
Shaman & The Monkey
The Band no self-respecting British blues festival can afford to be without is back with another selection of no-nonsense blues-rock, which will help cement its reputation as one of the most reliable and steadfast blues bands out there. Musically, it’s very much business as usual with Adam Norsworthy on vocals and guitars, ripping it up, along with the always-impressive Derek Kingaby on harmonica. The Rhythm section of Ben Mckeown on bass and Jon Bartley are as rock solid as always. They make it look easy, but rest assured , it really is not – as countless outfits have unfortunately proven in the past.
The production on this album does a fine job capturing the energy of their live performances and as they show on opener ‘The Line’, The Mustangs can still knock out a killer riff or two. The band might not receive the hype that surrounds some other blues bands, but The Mustangs have got what really counts, and that’s the music!
